insights today, the first portion of Jeremiah. We're excited to welcome Sean Hopkin back after

not too many days to help us work through what is, quite frankly, one of the more

difficult periods of history, as well as one of the more difficult texts in the whole Old

Testament, because there's not a lot of mountain peak hope and positivity coming out of the book of Jeremiah.

Well, I would say Isaiah is a master of being a truth teller when things are difficult,

but then leaving you, believing and remembering God's love.

And it's not that Jeremiah isn't a master of that, but, you know, it compared to these, these beautiful flowing passages with Isaiah, Jeremiah knows the same God and he's teaching the same God. But it's just the, this is a really difficult time where destruction is coming and people are really rejecting God, and

he's got to tell the truth about that.

Yeah, he can't be preaching, eat, drink, give me Mary.

Like, he needs to bring the hammer down.

Like, you guys have been breaking the covenant again and again.

Which is a significant thing that he's now in Jerusalem, where Isaiah had been, but he's roughly a hundred

years later, and we're getting that much closer to the Babylonian captivity and exile, so the

people have gotten that much more rebellious.

If you think of the famous time for Latter-day or infamous time for Latter-day Saints,

when a group of people decides to

kill, to murder Joseph Smith and Hiram, this is this kind of a time. They are going to try to

kill Lehi. Lehi's own children, influenced by this kind of thinking, is going to want to murder

Lehi and Nephi, and Jeremiah has to deal

with threats to his life from his own people who is trying to help. And so as difficult as our
