Earlier this week, I was in the Great Commonwealth of Massachusetts, don't call it a state,

because I was in Boston to attend and speak at the Snowbound Expo in Boston and was also there

to stop in at our Blister recommended shop, the ski monster, and I wanted to,

for the first time, stop by the Parlor Custom Ski's Factory in East Boston to check out the factory

and sit down with Mark Wallace, the owner and manager of Parlor, to get a bit of an update

on what is going on in the world of Parlor these days.

The Parlor factory is just a short distance from Boston's Logan Airport, and I strongly

encourage any of you who live in New England or have to travel in and out

of Logan to set up a time to stop by the factory and see for yourself what Mark and his team are

doing over at Parlor, including making custom skis, making semi-custom skis, and making snowboards and splitboards.

This episode of Gear 30 is presented by Taos Ski Valley. Now, Taos is, in addition to being

one of my favorite places to ski in the world and the place where I

literally started Blister, Touse is the first and only certified B-Corps ski area since

2017, and last year, Touse was also certified carbon neutral. So how do those certifications

actually translate to day-to-day resort operations?

Well, Tauce is now running nine electric snowmobiles, three electric snowblowers.

They are under contract to have the first fully electric snowcat in North America.

They are also under contract to get a hybrid snow cat.

And among other things, they have no single-use plastics at any resort dining outlet.
