Phyllis Schaefer is my guest today.

Phyllis is an artist living right up the street

for me in Tahoe, California.

Okay, so maybe not up the street, but she's within two hours driving distance,

and that is close enough for me.

You may remember her name from the episode with Parker Stremmel.

Phyllis is represented by the Stremmel Gallery in Reno, Nevada.

Phyllis paints landscapes of Tahoe and the eastern CRS.

She often goes out with her husband who's a rock climber and paints in

gouache while he climbs. The landscapes she paints are distinctive and they are

unmistakably hers. Phyllis uses rich colors and has a quirky style that I am absolutely loving.

In this episode, Phyllis talks about painting in Guash and her process for painting on site

in a difficult medium.

She also talks about living in urban areas versus more remote locations.

Phyllis went to Lake Tahoe, which is a relatively small community in the mountains a few hours outside of San Francisco.
