This year, however, three things. One, very, very hot

summer. Two, very, very dry summer. Three, the rain that you had last spring means that there's lots of undergrowth which turns into tender

So what is the situation right now?

Right now, John, we are hot and completely dry here on the eastern seaboard.

We've just had a record 35 degrees, so around about 95 getting on 100 Fahrenheit degree days in South Australia just off to our east so that's the

center part of the country and very very hot winds there and basically we're in conditions

right here now for bush fires and I can actually say to I've had a quick look at the

fire map we do have bush fires up and down the eastern coast here luckily most

are under control now because even as I went for a drive in my suburb just a

couple of hours ago,
