This is the Friends of History Debating Society. I'm John Batchel to my good mate, Jeremy Zakis,

0:06.3

in New South Wales. We're looking immediately north to north of Brisbane, the Queensland coast,

0:14.0

for what Jeremy tells me is a storm, cyclone that's about to be named with the letter A.

0:22.8

Jeremy, a very good evening to you.

0:24.5

Cyclones, typhoons, hurricanes are a threat to Queensland

0:30.1

and all of the inland area of Queensland.

0:33.4

1:12.1

when the name was selected for cyclones around this time, we decided to call it Anthony.

1:17.8

But there is a little bit of contention right now because, as you may know, our prime minister

1:22.3

right now is called Anthony Albanese.

1:24.8

So, of course, the concern is that if we call a cyclone Anthony, it might have

1:29.4

negative connotations and especially given we're about to go into an election, it kind of is seen

1:33.9

as a little bit rude. So funnily enough, John, there has been a little bit of a change in this

1:37.8

program. And this next cyclone, the one up in Queensland, if it does form, will probably be called
