Have you ever found joy in a silent moment? If you have, that small and quiet feeling, that's

contentment. Contentment isn't about unbridled happy tears, but it's no less valuable and

being content can be just as elusive as feeling overwhelmed with positivity, especially in a world

where stillness is hard to find or even recognize when it comes up. So today I want us to spend the next few minutes

journeying into understanding contentment,

the beautiful quiet joy that often goes unnoticed.

East LA wasn't the place you'd think of when imagining serene landscapes and tranquility. It was vibrant, yes. A bustling community where the sounds of life echoed around every corner.

From the street vendors calling out their fresh products to

children laughing as they played on the sidewalks, life was always in motion. But for all its charm, if we want to call it that, it was a concrete

jungle where buildings, roads, and sidewalks converged to paint a chaotic portrait.

It wasn't until my move to Portland in 2013

that I truly understood what I'd missed in LA.

The very fabric of nature was everywhere,

the tall trees, the whispering winds, and the sprawling rolling greens felt like an entirely

new universe. Every time I stepped outside it was like opening a new page in a book I hadn't known existed.

The first time I hiked up Multnomah falls, I wasn't prepared for the surge of emotions

that would envelop me. The steady sound of my

footsteps, the rustle of leaves, and the distant roar of the falls were a far cry from the bustling streets of East L.A.
