Summary

What did it actually mean when the early church used the word saved? We're now learning it was not simply to be saved from, but what we were saved for! Salvation is a level of bliss worked into the human existence that works itself into the present. Not simply an after life experience!

0:48.6	sod zote or sotaria. I think they meant something vastly different than our Western definition of salvation, which almost always has to do with one day dying and going to a future heaven for a state of entering into a state of post-mortem bliss.
1:03.4	I believe they saw salvation as something that worked that level of bliss into human existence in the now.
1:13.4	So to take the vision away from dying and going to heaven
1:17.9	is not to do away then with the bliss that accompanies living in eternity,
1:23.4	but it forces us to use Jesus' definition of eternal life. And Jesus said eternal life in John 17
1:31.2	was to know the son and to know the father who sent him. Now that word for no is obviously
1:38.2	an intimate term. It's a term that Mary uses when she asks how she's going to have a child, seeing that she has not known a man.
