| 0:00.0 | Welcome to the Black Girl Burnout Podcast. Kelly here. And it is a new year. We've crossed over. We left |
| 0:17.6 | 23 behind. And we have started 2024. And today's episode, I want to talk about |
| 0:25.9 | what is happening most likely across the globe is that people are setting up their New Year's |
| 0:34.2 | resolutions. And this episode is about the opposite. It is all about |
| 0:40.8 | opting out of resolutions. And I want to explain the logic behind that and provide an alternative |
| 0:49.1 | that I will explore in the next episode in more detail. I'm not a person who subscribes to |
| 0:54.1 | New Year's resolutions. |

| 1:41.2 | family. We're eating some lovely fun, but not necessarily |
| 1:46.0 | the most healthy of meals and snacks and desserts. And so we cross over into the new year |
| 1:51.7 | already to maximize our outward appearance. A lot of our resolutions are around sometimes money and love. |
| 2:03.0 | And I want to be clear, there's nothing wrong with committing to being resolute to attaining |
| 2:10.4 | some goals in your life. |
| 2:13.0 | But why I often struggle with the concept of setting a New Year's resolution is really twofold. |
| 2:20.4 | One, resolutions can easily lead us back into a life of opting into struggle, particularly if |
| 2:29.2 | they're not realistic and they're not grounded. |
