Welcome to the Black Girl Burnout podcast, Tully here, and today I want to talk about how to opt out of overwhelm.

0:17.1

This is going to be just one of a couple of episodes around this topic. Today, we're just going to

0:24.1

focus in on how to opt into really unplugging and disconnecting in a healthy way to avoid the

0:30.2

overwhelm of being basically overstimulated. And then we're also going to talk about in coming

0:36.3

episodes, how to opt out of overwhelm in relationships, how to opt into overwhelm with just general stress on the daily.

0:45.1

So stay tuned for that.

0:46.9

In the coming weeks and the next month or so, there's going to be a part two and a part three.

0:51.9

But today I want to focus on how to opt out of overstimulation and

0:56.4

What would it be like if you could overcome, how you center joy in your life. And I talked about

1:09.3

unplugging, how to opt into unplugging and disconnecting in the right way from what's going on in the world around.

1:31.4

And we're going to get into talking about how routines fit into that.

1:35.5

But the reason why I want to talk about this in an episode is because if you're like me,

1:41.3

we just spend our entire days completely overstimulated. I am constantly

1:48.2

multitasking, though I know that it's not hopeful and I don't actually get things done better.

1:55.7

And the science tells me that's not a good look. More on that later too. But I just am constantly either like on my

2:05.5

phone, in a phone conversation, watching a video, responding to an email, looking at my calendar,

2:14.8

daydreaming about what I've forgotten or didn't accomplish yet. There is just so much

2:20.8

coming at me at all times. So much so that I find unplugging difficult. Like even when I think

2:28.4

about the things that I do that I consider, you know, relaxing, I still find myself wanting to reach for like phone or, you know, relaxing, I still find myself wanting to reach for like phone or call someone
