Welcome to the Black Girl Burnout podcast, Kelly here, and today I want to talk about opting out of fear.

And really the question is, what are you so afraid of in life?

I know I still have some fears I could list for you.

I have some of the more regular common fears.

I'm really scared of flying.

It's not something I like doing.

But then there's more bigger. We're going to talk about today, more bigger, emotional fears, right, that go beyond phobias.

Fear of maybe being alone or fear of not living up to our expectations when it comes to

career or achievement.

Fear of being rejected by our community, whether it be family or friends or again in partnership.

Fear that maybe we have a diagnosed illness, whether it be mental or physical and the fear of

that believing that we are not

going to be able to have a joyful life. Today is going to be a safe space where we're going to be

able to say out loud what our fears are and work through them and talk about what can get in

the way of us living a life free from fear, or at least maybe the better way to phrase it is all-consuming fear.

I can't promise you that you'll never be afraid.

And honestly, fear is a powerful and good thing when it's in the right direction.

It takes care of us.

It puts guardrails on our lives. It protects us from

going too far one way or the other. Fear from hurting the people we love stops us from making

completely reckless and selfish decisions. So we're not striving to be fearless. We're just

striving to opt out of the kind of fear that stops us from getting to the good stuff
