Welcome to the Black Girl Burnout podcast. Kelly here. And today I want to talk about opting into preserving your peace. We talk a lot about that in our community, how we're trying to preserve our peace or just even the concept of peace. This episode I want to break down what that means to me. And also, what are kind of the enemies of peace or what are the things that keep us

0:38.4

from living a life that is preserving of our peace? And then finally, as usual, our daily healing

0:46.1

practice to help you start your journey, if you're not already on it, or continue your journey,

0:50.8

to preserving your peace. Like I said, I love this phrase, preserve my piece,

0:56.5

or preserving your piece, because it is something that I think everyone is trying to do at all

times. And I will often say it to friends when I'm talking about something silly that's

1:07.9

come up or an opportunity to engage in a conversation that I know is not

And the way that I think about that is that I think about my own life, the life that I live every day. And for the most part, I have

1:52.4

worked really hard to have it be a peaceful one. I have a home that is really peaceful. I have a job

2:00.0

that is peaceful. I have relationships now in my life

2:03.9

that are peaceful. And I want to be clear that preserving my peace does not mean that there is no

2:10.3

occasional challenges that I face. I face lots of challenges, being a entrepreneur, somebody who is

2:17.3

in a space trying to carve out a career as a single black woman, there are, of course, challenges.

2:25.3

You know, living by myself can be a challenge. I have run-of-the-mill challenges that you have as well.

2:33.0

But none of those challenges overwhelm my peace,

2:36.5

overtake my peace. And the reason that has happened is really because I've eliminated

2:42.2

what I consider to be like the enemies of peace. And that's what I want to talk about today.

2:47.5

How to eliminate those enemies, identify what those are, and then how to eliminate the very
