Summary

In this nourishing and mindset-shifting episode of Black Girl Burnout, Kelley reclaims the word “budget” and reframes it as an act of radical self-love. Instead of treating budgeting as punishment, she introduces the concept of “soft-life budgeting”—a compassionate, values-driven approach that centers rest, joy, and protection. If traditional budgeting has ever felt restrictive or shame-based, this episode is your invitation to rewrite the rules.

💡 Today You’ll Learn:

  • Why budgeting should feel like a love letter, not a lecture
  • How racism, classism, and trauma shape our relationship with money
  • What it means to create a soft-life budget rooted in joy and nervous system regulation
  • Three key categories of a self-love budget: joy-centered spending, self-protection, and boundaries

This episode is all about aligning your money with your values and creating space for abundance, rest, and peace. It’s budgeting, but make it soft, intentional, and healing.

✨ Episode Highlights:

01:06 Reframing budgeting as a form of self-love

03:00 Why traditional budgeting methods often fail us
