0:00.0 | I'm Oprah Winfrey. Welcome to Super Soul Conversations, the podcast. I believe that one of the most valuable gifts you can give yourself is time. |
0:12.0 | Taking time to be more fully present. Your journey to become more inspired and connected to the deeper world around us starts right now. |
0:24.0 | Please welcome Iyana Van Rost! |
0:28.0 | Thank you. Thank you. You know, that lesson of until you heal the wounds of your past, you will continue to bleed. |
0:40.0 | I remember the moment you said it on the show. You know, I'm a quote keeper. I wrote it in my quote book. What does that mean? |
0:48.0 | It means that there's like an impression that's made on your soul, on your heart, that wound that cut, that dig, that whatever it is. |
1:00.0 | And it starts to bleed. It bleeds energy. It bleeds power. And until you actually heal that, it will continue to bleed. |
1:10.0 | And that wound, that hurt, that disappointment. It's going to touch everything. I heard you tell a story about your mother and I had an aha moment. |
1:22.0 | And what I heard then, and this is so true for so many people, you as a 60-something-year-old woman, we're trying to forgive your mother. |
1:34.0 | It's not who she heard. She heard the six-year-old. And you're using the language and the intellectual constructs of a 60-year-old to try to forgive her when it's the six-year-old who needs to say, |
1:52.0 | you heard me. I'm mad at you. You were mean to me. I'm not your friend. You understand? But we try to forgive where we are now. |
2:08.0 | And don't take into consideration where the wound happened. That's why the wound keeps bleeding. |
2:14.0 | So while you have forgiven her in your quiet time, go back and let that six-year-old speak to her in a six-year-old language. |
2:23.0 | Yes. Does that make sense? |
2:25.0 | Yes. |
2:27.0 | I will say that six-year-old has spoken before, out loud to me many times. I've been able to hear that six-year-old. |
2:37.0 | You say that lives fall apart because they need to be rebuilt. |
2:44.0 | Sometimes we build on a shaky foundation. We build on a rocky foundation. We build with false information. |
2:51.0 | That information will only get us to a certain place. And then when we get to that place, we have to tear that structure down, |
2:58.0 | and we have to be related foundations so that we can build up again. But we don't know that. So we think that tearing down or the breakdown or the falling down is the end of this catastrophe. |
3:08.0 | We just want to bleed and die. |
3:10.0 | No. It has to come down. And so my mantra would not happen. That's happened to me very many times, including last Tuesday. |
