committee and saying faithfully that the events of January 6th were legitimate political discourse.

So this received a certain amount of pushback, if not outright horror.

And let's hear from Senator Mitch McConnell.

It was a violent insurrection for the purpose

of trying to prevent the peaceful transfer of power after a legitimately

certified election from one administration to the next.

So since then there's been a lot of weasley talk by Kevin McCarthy and others saying, oh, actually they didn't mean to imply that the people who actually stormed the Capitol were engaged in legitimate political discourse.
