joined by two of our regulars Bill Galston of the Brookings Institution in the Wall Street

Journal and Damon Linker of the Week.

Before we dig into today's topics, I want to recognize our winner. So a couple weeks ago we were talking about

Maddie Glazius's sub-stack and Bill Galston issued a challenge to our

listeners to explain the origin of the term slow boring which is the name of

Eglacius's sub-stack and sure enough no sooner did this podcast drop than we got a bunch of people but the winner the first one out of the gate was

Ann Womble who explained that the name comes from Max Faber's essay Politics as a Vocation where he writes

that politics is a strong and slow boring of hard boards that takes both passion and perspective.

So congratulations to Anne, I have to say, Honorable Mention also needs to go to Marshall
