If you knew me, if you were in my world day to day, you will hear me say this a lot.

I say it to my team, I say it to my husband, I say it to my

Pilates teachers, I say it to my sisters, I say it often often and I remember one time I used this expression in my corporate

job and my boss at the time was like I like that why can't we all be a little bit more like that

sometimes. Okay and it's this very simple statement. You

got to take the rough with the smooth. I think about that for a second it's so

simple and sometimes the most powerful things are completely overlooked.

But think about it, yeah? In life?

You're going to have to take the rough with the smooth. Nothing is all smooth. Show me a

straight river, all right? Nothing is all smooth. I remember one time we were on vacation, we were away for five or six days and

on the final day it rained we had this perfect weather and then on the last day

it was just this downpour right and everyone was complaining and my husband was like,

oh man our last day. I was like, look, we had perfect sunshine, we're sunburned,

why can't we rest in the room today? Why can't we just enjoy a nice lunch inside today? Why can't we just take the rough with the smooth, right? In light ways like that, but also the way that my boss referenced it was I lost a deal. There was a deal that I was

working on that took a lot of effort, a lot of time. It just happened that I was on a bit of a winning

streak at that point too, but that doesn't stop the disappointment, right, when something

falls through, when you're hoping for a result and you get a different result, and my boss was like, hey, I'm really sorry,

I know you walked on this, etc, etc.

And I said, hey, look, you know, you got to take the rough with the smooth.

Right?

Sometimes in life, I think we really set ourselves up for misery when we expect only smooth. No one, no species, ever. No one in history
