We are leading off with the top on how the leaders in the House, that's Speaker Mike Johnson,

and House Minority Leader, Hakeem Jeffries, are doing.

I love this lead, and I'm going to just read it out loud.

Over the last five months, the House has lived up to expectations.

It's been loud, rambunctious, heated, divided, and hyperpartisan.

For lovers of the people's house, like us, it's at once exhausting and thrilling to watch.

All right, let's talk Mike Johnson.

He often feels like he's underestimated by a lot of people, including us.

But he left for this recess on a pretty high note.

Yes, he does have an, first of all, it is a great lead.

I wrote it, so I feel very happy about that.

Feeling good, little pet. I have the approval of the CEO, which I wasn't looking for, but I have it anyway.

So, Mike Johnson does, you know, it's an interesting complex that he has, and it's not a, I don't say complex in a bad bad way it's just an interesting kind of thing that he has that he thinks everyone's uh underestimating him and

i guess there is some of that but i don't think we need to talk a ton about that but he left on a

huge high note um but i will say this he's got a lot of stuff to do in the next 13 legislative days between now and the deadline to pass the reconciliation bill. And this, you know, we, Johnson also doesn't like that we said this was a self-imposed deadline, the Memorial Day deadline. This is not a self-imposed deadline, really, the next one, July 4th,

because the debt ceiling rides in reconciliation by the choice of the Republicans on the Hill and

the administration and the debt ceiling needs to be lifted by the end of, really, middle of July
