Here are your Washington headlines of the day. Number one, a leader look at the Senate. Senate Majority Leader John Thune's turn in the reconciliation grinder.

Number two, the big question, will the Senate go regular order on reconciliation?

And number three, it's a battle between meta versus Apple in the tech world.

We are bringing back a tried and crude feature of Punch Bowl news, one that everybody looks forward to, which is our zooming in on one of the big four congressional leaders with the leader look.

Today we are starting with the Senate.

Tomorrow we'll take a look at the House.

But want to start here with Senate Majority Leader John Thune.

Senate Republicans preparing to take up the GOP's massive reconciliation bill, Trump's

big, beautiful bill, and the next four weeks are going to be hugely consequential for both

of the chambers.

Thune really nice in his spot as the top leader after 18 years of Mitch McConnell. How he handles

this is going to be something that we're going to be watching extremely closely.

Yeah. So the big thing I want to zoom in on here is reconciliation. And this dominates the top

two items we have this morning, both the leader look

and the number two item, which is about markups. John Thune is going to have a, he has a huge

challenge. And unlike Mike Johnson, John Thune has been in the leadership for a while. And the
