I cannot tell you how many times over the years people have asked me how to deal with negative people.

They say things like, I'm such a positive person.

I do the work.

I listen to a podcast in the morning. I'm part of self-coaching society. But my family are negative. My co-workers are negative. My best friends so negative. My neighbors are negative. My mom group is negative. My book club is negative. Do you catch my drift here, my friends? I like to discuss this situation,

which is true for many, many, many of us. There is no world where all you meet a positive,

upbeat people, nor should there be. It's not everyone's job to do the work. They won't do it in their lifetimes. The analogy that I like to

use is the ship in the water. Think about it. A ship doesn't drown because it's in the water.

It can only drown if the water gets in. And just like the ships, right, this is us, my friends, we have no choice but to be on the water.

That's what we're built for. We're meant to exist with humanity. We're meant to coexist in harmony.

So those complaints, that criticism, that condemning that other people do around you, gosh,

who knows what it's about? Maybe it's

other co-workers, maybe it's about the state of the world, maybe it's about their husbands or

wives, maybe it's about the rain. Whatever it is, people are complaining about, whatever

negativity is coming your way, it doesn't have to affect you. Peace is something that you choose. Peace begins with you. It might be

surrounding you. It might be all around you. In fact, just go online for five minutes. How much

positivity will you really see? Okay, there's a lot of hate. There's a lot of hot takes that are

really mean. There's all sorts of, oh my gosh, negativity isn't

strong enough to describe it sometimes. But does that have to impact your serene sailing?

My friends, only if you let it in. The ship is safe. It might be surrounded by water, but it's only when the water enters the ship, enters the boat where we start to be in trouble.

Can you bucket it out if some gets in? Can you go, oh, yep, a bit choppy today. I let that in. I'm tossing it out.

My friends, you are in control of the ship. Doesn't matter your environment.
