As we near the end of this amazing little book of First John, we come to the 22nd

identifying mark of a person who has been born again.

And it is this, that they can pray and obtain answers to prayer.

Now, let me tell you right up front, that doesn't mean that everything you ever ask for

you get.

In fact, this portion of Scripture is going to correct that faulty thinking.

I would also point out to you that there are many things God identifies in Scripture

that are hindrances to prayer in the life of a believer.

But one of the real marks of a child of God is that they have a connection with God in prayer.

That it's not just that they prayed to say, Lord, I want you to save me.

That may have been the beginning point, but they want to pray.

They want to bring their needs to the Lord.

They believe God hears and answers prayer.

The Christian life is to be a life of prayer.

And so we come to 1 John chapter 5, verses 14 through 17, where the Bible says,

and this is the confidence that we have in Him.
