What a joy it has been to walk through First John with you, and we come today to the final

verses and the final study of great truth that we must know,

and I trust a deepened assurance that we truly know God.

1 John chapter 5, beginning in verse number 18, says, we know.

We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not, but he that is begotten of God

keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not, and we know, that we are of God

and the whole world lieth in wickedness, and we know that the Son of God is come and have given us an understanding that we may know

him that is true and we are in him that is true even in his son Jesus Christ.

This is the true God and eternal life.

Little children, keep yourselves from idols.

Amen.

Did you hear the operative phrase three times?

Verse 18, we know.

Verse 19, we know.

Verse 20, we know, and then I love this, again in verse 20, that we may know.

You see, there is a knowledge that we have, and there is an ever-increasing knowledge.
