The 27-year-old motorist was sitting in his parked Honda SRV on West 11th Street near Waverly Place in front of the Manhattan's

7th Day Adventist Church, a West Village location.

Two men opened the unlocked driver's side door and forced him out of the damn thing vehicle

just before 5 a.m. Once he was outside the damn thing vehicle, a third man approached waving

a machete

at him as if to discourage him from resisting the jacking. Metei guy and one of the other

jackers drove away leaving the third jacker who fled on East 11th Street behind.

Cops described the suspects as light in complexion.

The man with the machete was last seen wearing a gray jacket,

ripped blue jeans, and white sneakers.

The guy who fled on foot was last seen wearing dark colored clothing

and blue and white Nike sneakers.

Honda SRVs, particularly older models, are popular targets for car thieves.

And the New York Post notes reassuringly that despite this brazen machete carjacking,

the West Village's sixth precinct is among the city's safest.
