As Israel's offensive in Gaza intensifies, tensions are rising in the Israeli occupied

West Bank.

NPR's Eleanor Beardsley reports Israeli human rights groups say 250 Palestinians have been

killed there since October 7th.

Roy Yellen, the spokesman for Israeli Rights Group Betselham, says the Israeli-controlled Palestinian

West Bank is a pressure cooker.

The Israeli army is conducting a lot of arrest, raids, and restricts a lot of movements

of Palestinians. There's a lot of movements of Palestinians.

There's a lot of tension.

He says some of that is understandable considering Israel's security worries and increased

militant activity, but in the West Bank city of Ramallah, 70-year-old Palestinian jeweler Ahmad Omar says

Israeli soldiers are acting with impunity.

Because they're always here.

You know, they come in and pick up anybody and they take him out.

Omar says since October 7th,

Palestinians in the West Bank feel they have little control over their lives.
