28 pre-mey babies from Gaza today completed their trips to Egypt according to

Egyptian state television and Israel and Hamas appear closer to a deal for Israel

to halt attacks for a few days in exchange for the release of a few

dozen Israeli hostages.

For now though, heavy fighting continues in northern Gaza including in and around Gaza's

Indonesian hospital and appears Lauren Freres in Tel Aviv.

Gaza's health ministry says a shell hit the second floor of the hospital killing at least 12

people.

The head of the WHO condemned it, saying health workers and civilians should quote never have to be

exposed to such horror.

It's worth remembering that Israel says it's trying to avoid civilian casualties but that that Hamas, Israel says, is using human shields and embedding

its fighters at Gaza's hospitals.

A bit of levity today at the White House as President Biden got to save the lives of

two-42-pound birds on his birthday. Biden's age is getting lots more attention

as he seeks re-election, but as NPR's Dominican-Mantinaro reports at today's event, the President seemed

to take age in stride.
