With reports of a possible imminent deal to free some hostages being held by Hamas,

Israel's cabinet is meeting at this hour on a temporary ceasefire proposal in exchange for the release.

Where it's a complicated deal and may take some time to implement

as we hear from NPR's Greg Myri and Tel Aviv.

The proposal that's being discussed would involve about 50 Israeli women and children held by Hamas in Gaza since the Hamas

attack on October 7th they would be freed. In turn the Israelis would be

expected to release about 150 Palestinian women and

teenagers held in Israeli prisons and we should stress even if there's an agreement

it could still be a day or so before the fighting stops and these

exchanges begin so a lot of things could happen in that time and even if these exchanges begin they

won't happen all at once they would play out over four days or so.

NPR's Brian Mann reports the vigil comes more than six weeks after the war broke out in the region.

I'm here in one of the major squares in the heart of Tel Aviv and family members of

hostages and their supporters have gathered here.

There's an enormous table with candles lit for those captured by Hamas on October 7th.

And what people here are telling me is that they're heartbroken, they're angry,

they want all of these hostages released and brought home as quickly
