Officials in North Carolina are trying to deal with the massive damage left behind

by Hurricane Helene. Thousands of people are stranded by high waters and destroyed bridges and

Governor Roy Cooper says one of the biggest problems is getting supplies to those who need water and food,

and he says the death toll will likely rise.

We're working to try to rescue people and to save people, but we know that there will be quite a few fatalities because of the devastation

that we are seeing and what rescuers are seeing on the ground.

At least 90 people have died across several states because of this storm

at least 30 of them died in the county

around Asheville, North Carolina.

Elling caused major flooding throughout the region.

Transylvania County North Carolina saw 17 inches of rain come down and Alex Globec says the fire department

told them that if they wanted to evacuate their home they needed to do it quickly.

We took about 15 minutes I have two cats I grabbed them and a toothbrush and that's all I grabbed.

President Joe Biden says an all-out war in the Middle East has to be avoided.

But on Saturday the Israeli military confirmed that it assassinated Hezbollah's leader Hassan Nasrallah in a missile strike on Beirut.

Civilians were also killed in that attack, and Israel launched more attacks in Lebanon on Sunday.
