President Biden is promising to help the victims of Hurricane Helene

with every possible resource as fast as possible.

And Pierre's Mara Lyson has details.

President Biden called Helene a history-making storm.

He promised that federal relief efforts will not stop until the job is done.

Damage from the hurricane stretches across at least 10 states, winds over 120 miles an hour in some places,

storm surges up to 15 feet, and record flooding. Communities are devastated.

Biden said he'd been on the phone for several hours with the governors of Georgia and North Carolina

and that he'd be traveling to the region later this week.

There is a possibility that the president will ask Congress to return to Washington to pass emergency disaster relief funding, but no decision has been made on that yet.
