Over 2 million homes in the southeast are in the dark as a result of Hurricane Helene,

most of the outages in Florida and at least three deaths

are blamed on the storm.

Helene may landfall in the Big Bend area of Florida last night as a category

four hurricane carrying top winds of 140 miles per hour.

Florida's emergency management director Kevin Guthrie had this warning for residents

in areas where Helene made a direct hit.

You're probably seeing very, very clear skies right now.

That's because you're in the eye of the hurricane.

If you can hear us and you have power, please do not go outside.

That eyewall is going to close on the backside.

Helene is now moving across Georgia

and can be felt in the Carolinas and in Tennessee.

Former President Donald Trump has doubled down on his attacks against Haitian migrants.

As Oliver Morrison of member station W-E-S-A in Pittsburgh reports, Trump took his attacks to a small southwestern pencil town of Charleroy.

At a Pennsylvania rally on Monday, Trump said a large increase in migrants is making the town less safe

and putting a burden on local resources.
