Hurricane Helene is gaining strength as it makes its way toward the Florida

panhandle. Just a short while ago, it became a powerful category for storm with and thirty mile per hour winds.

NPR's Windsor Johnston says forecasters expect to lean to make landfall tonight.

Deanne Krizwell says the White House is preparing for a multi-state event.

The Army Corps of Engineer has power restoration teams and debris specialists who are going to be able

to help restore power.

We have food, water, generators, and tarps that are deployed to staging locations across the region.

Residents in Tallahassee have been warned to prepare for a direct hit. Forecasters say the storm is expected

to bring potentially catastrophic winds, storm surge, and widespread flooding to Florida

and dangerous storm effects to states

along the East Coast including Georgia and North Carolina.
