The Lebanese government is urging hospitals to postpone non-essential surgeries to make room

for the wounded.

Nearly 500 people were killed and hundreds more have been injured in Israeli airstrikes on targets in Lebanon,

as NPR's Ruth Sherlock reports.

This has been the deadliest day of conflict for Lebanese since the 2006 war. You know the Lebanese Ministry of Health

say 274 people have been killed over a thousand wounded and that is a

staggering toll for a single day of attacks.

And this comes, you know, as the country is already dealing with the fallout of the attack that saw Hezbollah pages and walkie talkies explode last week injuring so many more, and killing more.

The 11th government's now asking hospitals to postpone non-essential surgeries and make

space for what they expect will be more wounded.

NPR is Ruth Sherlock in Tel Aviv.

Former President Donald Trump delivered his economic message to a group of Pennsylvania farmers

on Monday.
