Secretary of State Anthony Blinken says the U.S. will make sure Ukraine doesn't just

survive, but that it thrives.

He announced another $1 billion in aid during a visit to Ukraine's Capitol Keeve, as

MPR's Michelle Kalman reports.

Secretary Blinken announced another big aid package after holding lengthy talks with Ukraine's

president, Folladimir Zelensky.

The Secretary says the U.S. is talking about long-term support for Ukraine, as well as

help with the current counteroffensive against Russian forces in Ukraine.

The progress has accelerated in the past few weeks.

This new assistance will help sustain it and build further momentum.

The $1 billion aid package also includes money for demining.

Blinken says Ukraine is now one of the world's most heavily-mined countries.

His visit comes ahead of the UN General Assembly where Ukraine will be a major theme.

A judge's world former Trump lawyers Kenneth Cheesebrole and Sidney Powell will be tried

together this fall on charges they conspired to interfere with Georgia's 2020 election
