Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Jack Spear. Vice President Kamala Harris sat down

today with a running-made Minnesota Governor Tim Walls for a joint interview that

will air on CNN tonight. As NPR's Asma Holly reports it's joint interview Harris has

It's the first extended interview Harris has agreed to since she replaced

President Biden as the Democratic presidential nominee.

Republicans have accused Harris of trying to dodge the press and avoid tough questions

because she's not done any one-on-one interviews or press conferences since President Biden

dropped out of the race. The pressure for her to do an

interview was growing beyond conservative circles. Prior to becoming the

nominee, Harris had taken plenty of questions from reporters. Her team says she had done 80 interviews this year, but the context is

different now. In those interviews, Harris, as the Vice President, was often selling

Biden's agenda. Now she'll face questions about her own policies,

vision, and prior positions.
