Hurricane Hillary is projected to hit the Southern California tomorrow night, and

fierce Julia Summon's reports, assignments rather reports from Santa Monica, the officials

in the state are preparing for potentially catastrophic and light threatening floods

and high winds.

The storm that's been gaining strength in abnormally warm waters off the coast of Mexico

is expected to bring a year's worth of rain to the southwest in a few days.

Local officials in Southern California are warning the community not to go in the

ocean this weekend with expected waves of 10 to 15 feet.

The California Office of Emergency Management put out an update noting the risk of sustained

50-mile per hour winds, landslides, and flash flooding.

Officials suggest Southern California residents sign up to get emergency alerts from their

county and pack an evacuation bag to be ready to go with pets and family.

Hillary is a category two storm with maximum sustained winds of 110 miles an hour.

And the search in Lahaina continues as the death toll from the wildfires has risen

to at least 114.

Maui Police say nearly 80 percent of the burn area has been searched so far.

The National Weather Service's rains from post-tropical cyclone Fernanda are expected to

hit the eastern part of Hawaii late tomorrow and spread to the rest of the state by Monday.

With heavy rains on Maui.
