President Biden is preparing to travel to Europe to take part in a series of high-stakes

meetings, including the annual NATO Summit in Lithuania.

National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan says Biden will discuss a number of pressing

issues with member nations, including the war in Ukraine and Sweden's bid to join the

alliance.

Thanks in large part to President Biden's leadership, NATO is stronger, more energized,

and more united than ever.

NATO is also larger than ever, with Finland having joined the alliance and Sweden soon to

follow.

Biden will also make a stop in the United Kingdom to meet with King Charles and British

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and will travel to Finland for a meeting with Nordic leaders.

The Biden administration is calling discussions between Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen

and China's new premier, candid, and constructive.

But as NPR's Emily Fang reports, during her visit to Beijing, Yellen also raised thorny

issues regarding China's treatment of foreign companies and competitors.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen is in China on the first Treasury visit since 2019.

In her meeting with Chinese Premier Lee Tsang, Yellen addressed frictions in the relationship.

Yellen acknowledged that the two countries might disagree on some issues, but that those

disagreements didn't have to lead to misunderstandings.

And she's been tasked with stabilizing a trade relationship that has gotten only more

tense.
