Rick Wood Field is the oldest baseball field in the US.

It's also where comedian Roy Wood Jr spent a lot of time growing up.

Racism was around, but this baseball field somehow was a separate oasis from all of that for blacks and white.

The Northeast and the Midwest are already dealing with the first major heat wave of this season

with the Heat Index expected to top 100 degrees in some cities later this week.

If a pukatch, a member station WRVO reports New York's governor

activated the state's emergency operations center.

Governor Kathy Hockel says every region of upstate New York, even stretching

toward the Canadian border, will be hit with a quote, feels like more than a hundred degree temperature this week.

In preparation, Hockel has activated the National Guard.

We reached out to the emergency management personnel in all 62 counties, reminding them to have direct

communication with their constituents as well. This also includes communication with our utility companies to minimize the risk of

brownouts or power outages.

Hockel says the state open pools and beaches ahead of schedule this year to help New
