Theah is lawyers former president Donald Trump today pleaded not guilty to a multi-count

indictment in federal court in Miami.

Trump facing charges of wrongly holding classified documents that his moral logo was

state.

NPR's Carrie Johnson says it appears the prosecution wants to move forward quickly.

Jack Smith told us that he wants a speedy trial.

And if you look at that law, it says a trial within 70 days of today.

But there are some complicating factors here.

One is that there's a lot of classified information involved.

However, it's not clear what Trump's legal strategy might be, including challenging

evidence in the case.

Unsupported claims that he's being treated differently than others.

And he may also want to try to get that evidence provided by his lawyer Evan Corcoran out

of the case, which is very powerful evidence about that obstruction that conspiracy to obstruct

count.

Carrie Johnson, Trump left Miami after his court appearance, he's flying to New Jersey,

or has expected to respond publicly to the charges.

The Biden administration is extending temporary protected status for hundreds of thousands

of people from several countries.

NPR's Joel Rose reports immigration authorities are dropping the Trump administration's

effort to terminate the protections.
