Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Kouravakulman, former President Donald Trump will head to a

federal courthouse in Miami today.

NPR's Kerry Johnson reports it marks Trump's first appearance in court since he was indicted

by a federal grand jury in this case.

It's his second criminal indictment so far.

Trump faces 37 felony charges, including obstruction and willful retention of defense secrets,

for allegedly keeping military plans and nuclear information in boxes, unsecured at his

Florida resort.

The former president says he's an innocent man.

Trump will likely be processed like any other criminal defendant he may be asked to offer

a plea and to provide fingerprints and other information.

Special counsel Jack Smith says he'll ask for a speedy trial.

But Trump's team may decide to file pre-trial motions that could push the case well into

2024.
