The US Supreme Court ruled today, Alabama, violated the Landmark Voting Rights Act by failing

to draw a second majority black congressional district in a state that is 27 percent black.

The ruling was a surprise from a court that's previously been hostile to the voting rights

law, Morph Menpros need a totemburn.

By a 5-4 vote, a coalition of conservative and liberal justices reaffirmed the court's

1986 precedent interpreting how legislative districts must be drawn under the Landmark

Voting Rights Act.

The court said that in Alabama, a state with a 27 percent black voting population and

seven congressional seats, the Republican-dominated state legislature had racially gerrymandered

districts and denied African-American voters a reasonable chance to elect a second

representative of their choice.

Chief Justice John Roberts joined by fellow conservative Brett Kavanaugh and the court's

three liberals upheld a new map that likely will result in a second black member of Congress

from Alabama and a second Democrat to boot.

Hundreds of flights into an out-of-US airports were delayed again the day by the smokey haze

from wildfires in Canada.
