President Biden says the U.S. is preparing to send more military hardware to help Ukraine

fight off Russia's invasion.

He conferred today with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on the sidelines of the G7

Summit in Japan, and PR's Anthony Cune reports from Hiroshima.

President Biden said the next tranche of weapons would include artillery, ammunition, and

vehicles.

He stated that the U.S. continues to help Ukraine respond, recover, and rebuild.

Zelensky is on his first trip to Asia since Russia invaded Ukraine last year.

Before meeting with Biden, Zelensky attended a G7 session focused on Ukraine.

A reporter asks Zelensky whether the Ukrainian city of Bachmuth, which Russia claims to have

taken after a bloody eight-month battle, remains in Ukrainian hands.

Zelensky replied, I think no, but you have to understand there is nothing.

For today, Bachmuth is only in our hearts.

Officials in Alberta, Canada are urging people to put safety first this Canadian holiday

weekend.

As Dan Carpenshek reports, the fire risk remains extreme there, with more than 90 fires still

burning, and about two dozen of them are still out of control.

Nearly 20 evacuation orders remain in place with more than 10,000 people forced out of their

homes because of the wildfires, one of the most intense fire seasons in years.

To compare, officials say last year at this time just over 1100 acres had burned.
