Voters are going to the polls today in Turkey, where President Regipta Ebertawan is putting

his two decades of rule on the line as he seeks another five years in office.

And Pierce Peter Kenyon has more from Istanbul.

Erdogan supporters say they're looking for security and stability under a leader they

know.

Backers of opposition leader Kamal Kilich Derulo, on the other hand, say two decades in power,

first as Prime Minister and then as a President with sweeping executive powers, is more than

enough for any democracy.

Some 64 million votes are expected to be cast in what summer calling the most critical

elections in the 100-year history of the modern Turkish Republic.

Support for Erdogan has slipped as the economy slumped in recent years, but analysts say he's

a savvy campaigner who can't be counted out.

The ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian militants in Gaza appears to be holding.
