Sudan's rival military forces are meeting today to discuss a possible ceasefire.

The talks organized by the U.S. and Saudi Arabia will be the first face-to-face meeting since

the conflict broke out three weeks ago.

Impires Juliana Kim has more.

Representatives from the Sudanese Army and the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces

are meeting in Saudi Arabia.

The U.S. State Department described the meeting as a pre-negotiation talk.

The possibility of a ceasefire deal comes after three weeks of brutal fighting in Sudan.

Hundreds of civilians have been killed and more than 4,000 have been injured, according

to Sudan's federal Ministry of Health.

Tens of thousands have also fled the country while those who have stayed are struggling to

find food and water.

The U.S. and Saudi Arabia are urging the rival military groups to reach a resolution

and also ensure that aid can safely reach affected areas while they negotiate.
