The UK's first coronation in 70 years is getting underway in London.

King Charles III has arrived at Westminster Abbey.

MPR's Lauren Freyr is in London.

She reports on the more than 1,000-year-old script for the ceremony and some changes that

have been made.

This coronation is King Charles III's chance to unveil his version of monarchy.

The parade route is shorter than his mother's.

The ceremony includes a nod to other faiths besides the Church of England which he heads,

and there's a role for all Britons not just aristocrats to praise the King.

The core ritual hasn't changed, though.

The King is being anointed with holy oil from Jerusalem.

It's considered a sacred right.

It happens in secret behind a canopy, and it's the only part of the ceremony that's not

televised.

It all ends with a military flyover, weather permitting, and a wave from the balcony of Buckingham

Palace.
