Senate Democrats are unveiling plans to craft new legislation aimed at improving US competition

with China.

As NPR's Barbara Spawn explains, the lawmakers are pushing to have such a bill voted on

the next few months.

The new initiative would build off previous legislation aimed at strengthening US economic

competition with China, like the Chips Act that passed last year, which pumps billions

into the domestic manufacturing of semiconductor chips.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said the new legislation would limit China's access

to cutting-edge technology, make more domestic investments in manufacturing, and limit

investment to the Chinese government.

It's incumbent on us to ensure that the US is not the financial lifeblood supporting

the Chinese government and its military technological advancement.

Democratic senators also said the package would aim to deter China from initiating conflicts

with Taiwan, Barbara Spawn, and Pierre News, Washington.

Elon Musk is threatening to give NPR's Twitter account to another company that is unless

the network starts tweeting again.

The NPR's Bobby Allen reports it's the latest fight to billionaire owner of Twitter's launch

with media organizations.

Since Musk incorrectly labeled NPR's main Twitter account state affiliated, the network

has not tweeted to its nearly 9 million followers, which apparently is something that has

rattled Musk.
