Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Corva Coleman, a number of countries have managed

to get their diplomatic staff out of War Torn Sudan, fighting as spilled into a second

week between the Army and a powerful paramilitary group.

As the foreigners get evacuated, Kate Bartlett reports, Sudanese face the choice of staying

put, amid the bombing, or trying to flee over land.

The US-UK front Saudi Arabia, Italy, Spain, and several other countries have managed to

get small numbers of their nationals, mainly diplomatic staff, out of cartoon.

Japan, Russia, and others are looking for possible ways to evacuate their people as fighting

in the capital continues.

Meanwhile, desperate Sudanese must decide whether they attempt to flee overland to neighboring

countries.

Some are trying to head to Egypt, and the UN says thousands of refugees have arrived in

Chad.

Earlier, the US Agency for International Development deployed a team of disaster response

experts to the region.

The House of Representatives is expected to vote on a Republican-backed bill this week

that would raise the nation's debt ceiling.

NPR's Windsor Johnston says, if the measure passes, it's all but certain to be dead on

arrival, and the democratically-led Senate.

Majority leader Chuck Schumer has warned that the Senate will not take up the bill.
