With a press stone, a key drug used in medication abortions is still available for now.

The Supreme Court last night blocked lower court decisions that would have rolled back

the drug's FDA approval.

Empire Sarah McCammon has more on reaction to the ruling.

This news has been met with some relief by abortion rights advocates and providers.

Some anti-abortion rights groups have expressed disappointment about the decision, but the

group representing the plaintiffs in the case, Alliance Defending Freedom, which brought

the original lawsuit challenging the FDA approval of Mifapristone, issued a statement saying

they are hopeful about the final outcome of the case.

So for now, access to Mifapristone remains as it was, at least in states where abortion

is legal, but of course, the long-term outcome of the case is still unclear.

The justices left the case in the hands of the fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, which

is scheduled oral arguments on May 17.

The case though is likely to end up back at the Supreme Court next term.

Police are searching for suspects after eight people were shot in the nation's capital

last night, including a child.

Nobody died in the two shootings.
