Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will be visiting Turkey this weekend to see US earthquake

aid efforts on the ground.

NPR's Michelle Kalman reports his trip begins in Germany for an international policy conference.

Russia's war in Ukraine and the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria will top the

agenda as Secretary Blinken meets with many of his European counterparts at the Munich

Security Conference.

From there, he will fly to Injolik Air Base in Turkey, as spokesman Ned Price.

I have an opportunity well there to witness some of what the US government is doing.

And I think he'll also be in a position to speak to what more of the United States will

be prepared to do for our Turkish allies and for the people of Syria in the days to come.

The trip was planned before the earthquake and will also include a stop in Greece.

The men convicted of carrying out a racist mass occur at a Buffalo, New York supermarket

last year, was sentenced to life in prison without chance of parole today.

19 year old Peyton Gendron offered an apology to the victim's families, but it was not

well received in the courtroom.

Gendron pleaded guilty to 10 counts of first degree murder and a single-calf domestic

terrorism motivated by hate for the shooting rampage that left 10 people dead and three

others wounded.

Gendron, a vowed white supremacist, opened fire to top-smarket and east Buffalo because

that a large black clientele.
