Just today after the U.S. shot down a flying object off Alaska, today Canada made the same

decision.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says an unidentified object, the violated its air space, was shot

down by an American fighter jet after Canadian and U.S. aircraft were scrambled.

He says Canadian forces will recover and analyze the wreckage.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon says it still has no details to offer on the unidentified object

its shot down yesterday.

Officials say they're still conducting search and recovery activities on sea ice.

The U.S. northern commands has arctic weather conditions, including wind, chill, snow, and

limited daylight are a factor in this operation and that personnel will adjust recovery operations

to maintain safety.

The rescuers are still looking for survivors while Syria says its rescue phase is done following

Monday's powerful earthquakes.

Officials say the death toll in both countries now stands at more than 28,000 and Pierce

Peter Kenyon has more.

Turkey's Vice President said some 67 people had been rescued in the previous 24 hours.

Two women are among the latest survivors to be pulled from collapsed buildings.

The state news agency reports a 70-year-old woman was brought to safety in Karaman Marashth

province and a 55-year-old woman was rescued from the rubble in the city of D. Arbacare.

Stories of people surviving for unusually long times brought small moments of relief

and perhaps sparks of hope for the families of those still missing.
