San Mateo County Sheriff's Officials this morning confirmed the mass shooting at two

farms in Half Moon Bay yesterday is being treated as a case of workplace violence.

KQED's Rachel Myrow is more.

The suspect 66-year-old Chun Li Zhao is a resident of Half Moon Bay.

His semi-automatic handgun was legally purchased and owned.

Zhao was employed at Mountain Mushroom Farm.

One of the locations where he allegedly opened fire.

The victims, seven dead and one wounded are all Asian and Latino adults.

All of the evidence we have points to this being the instance of workplace violence.

The coroner's office is still working on victim identifications and notifying next

of kin, a task complicated by the fact some of the victims are migrants.

President Biden hosted Democratic leaders at the White House today amid a new era of

divided government with Republicans now in control of the House.

Among the items discussed, the standoff over raising the debt ceiling, the ongoing Russian

war in Ukraine, the recent spade of mass shootings in California.

Speaking in the Roosevelt Room, Biden expressed sympathy for state residents on a number

front.

By also getting called on Congress to send him an assault weapons bill and at least one

shooting a semi-automatic assault style weapon was used.
