Washington is relatively quiet this morning. The House and the Senate are out, and this afternoon, Joe Biden departs for his annual Thanksgiving vacation in Nantucket.

But over at the D.C. Circuit

Court, three judges have a big decision to make. Yesterday, they heard arguments in an appeal

of the gag order in Donald Trump's D.C. election subversion case. So this morning, we have

senior legal affairs reporter Josh Gerstein, who is in the room Monday listening to those

arguments, and he's going to help us break down the latest across all four Trump criminal cases.

Let's start with D.C. and what yesterday was all about?

Well, Ryan, it was about two hours and 15 minutes long, which was a bit of an endurance

contest for those of us who were in the courtroom.

And the issue at hand before this three-judge panel was what to do about the gag order

that Judge Tanya Chutkin imposed on Trump in connection with the Jack Smith, the special counsel's

election subversion case in D.C. Everybody knows of Trump's penchant for, especially on social

media, but sometimes in speeches, attacking prosecutors, attacking the Justice Department, sometimes attacking the people

of the District of Columbia. And the prosecutor requested a gag order from Chuck in and got one

that basically limits Trump's ability to say things that the judge thinks will prejudice potential

trial in various ways, either by intimidating
