Summary

OA1170 - This Rapid Response Friday it’s Boh-vey (yes that is how you pronounce it, probably) all day--as in former Trump defense attorney and current Trump henchman Emil Bove, now up for a seat formerly occupied by Samuel Alito on the Third Circuit. Matt ties together several different stories from the news--from January 6th to the Eric Adams prosecution to DOJ’s deportations in violation of court orders--together with this week’s stunning 27-page account from deep inside the DOJ provided by a former loyalist.

Finally, in today’s footnote: a pro se plaintiff invents a completely new way for AI to be useless in the courtroom

There's a very strange thing happening here where the government is saying, if you release him, then he'll be a flight risk because we'll deport him.

I am also having enormous amounts of trouble pronouncing somebody's name today because we have got to talk about Emil Bouvé. Mille Bovet. Bovet. I don't know. I've heard it so many different directions. I think he might say Bovvie, based on the hearing, based on the audio, but I like Bovieve. Yeah. I don't know. I don't care really would at this point. As we're going to find, you can pronounce it not qualified. Yeah.

2:19.2

Right. Yes. Not a judge. The original, yeah, what, Italian pronunciate? I don't know what the origin is, but is shouldn't be a judge is actually. Yeah. So, of course, OA fan favorite Emil Bovey, back when he was Trump's defense attorney, we did not see any of this coming during People v. Trump, but we have a lot to talk about because he has just finished up his confirmation hearings. And it looks like Dem's are going to try to stop it, but we're going to know why by the time this episode is finished. I'm going to tie this into several different breaking stories, including the big Supreme court decision on Monday that I know we got to get to. I hate those words. Anytime I hear big Supreme Court decision, I'm not looking forward to it. It's even better, Thomas, because the day this air is there's going to be a whole pile of Supreme Court decisions. Don't like it. Huge pile. I'd rather not. Can we decline? No, thank you. Yeah, I'd love to skip them. Supreme Court, take some time on. Take a year. Take three more years, three years off. You'll be here. You deserve, you guys work so hard. You've got a lot of flags to fly and RVs to drive and private jets to ride on. Take three years off doing nothing. and the world will be an undoubtedly better place, like a measurably better place if they just quit working.
